The Open College Mission
Open College offers individualized, affordable education that integrates technology and personalized service to help learners meet their career, academic, and personal goals.
Open College encourages all students to enroll in LRC100: Documenting Your Experiences for College Credit, an open, self-paced course for learners who are interested in earning undergraduate credit for learning acquired outside of the classroom. This comprehensive course guides you through the process of creating an experiential learning portfolio to showcase the knowledge you already possess. Because this course is offered in an “open” format, there is no cost for the course and no instructor.
Open College Degrees
The Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (BSPr) and Associate of Science in Professional Studies (ASPr) are subscription-based programs designed to save you time and money. The BSPr and ASPr provide self-motivated students the opportunity to create a customized degree plan to meet their individual and professional goals. The programs focus on professional knowledge and skills, project management, problem solving, and strategic planning and culminate in a capstone class with a portfolio project. Working with a faculty mentor, design your degree by combining credits earned through Course Assessments, creating an experiential learning portfolio, and applying transfer credits from other accredited institutions. Progress through the degree plan by documenting and demonstrating what you know.

Credit by Exam
Open College acknowledges credits earned through a variety of nationally recognized standardized tests, such as DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs), the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), the Advanced Placement Program (AP), and Defense Language Proficiency Tests (DLPTs). Purdue University Global awards credit based on the minimum scores recommended by Educational Testing Service (ETS) or the American Council on Education (ACE). Credit may be awarded for each test in which the recommended minimum score is earned and based on program guidelines and course outcomes.
